I am writing to share my personal experience with Dixie Crystals Granulated Sugar.
My family had made "Butter Cream Mints" for over 100 years. Fortunately, I learned to make this from my mother when I was 10 years old and now am one of the few that still follows the original recipe. Since I make these only as gifts and for very special people and make over 50 pounds each year, I fell into the trap of buying cheaper brands of sugar. Following the strict procedure, the recipe began to fail more frequently than it was successful.
This year, I decided to go back to Dixie Crystals and to my pleasant surprise, the first 25 batches ALL have turned out like the ones my mother taught me over 60 years ago. I am very glad I re-discovered Dixie Crystals sugar. It is still 100% cane sugar. THANKS, it is worth the little extra cost... Once again I have learned, "You Get What You Pay For."
