My memories of learning to cook always involved something delicious. Although I love to cook all kinds of food now, the only things I wanted to cook as a child were sweet things. I remember my mother teaching me the standards of baking - how to cream the butter and sugar until it was light and fluffy and then add each egg one by one. How to alternate the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients when adding to the batter. Not to over beat. We made Toll House chocolate chip cookies to die for. One of my favorites was a recipe that involved three ingredients - oats, butter and confectioners’ sugar. Mix them all together, roll out balls, chill and eat. Not the healthiest of recipes but darn good!
