Memories & Stories

Imperial Sugar Company,
My early memories are of baking cookies with my mother and older sister. This was way before the days of refrigerator dough that you slice and bake! I remember measuring the sugar and butter and using the old, loud mixer to “cream” it together. Then adding vanilla and eggs, and mixing some more, finally adding flour. The flour always seemed to puff out all over the counter and all three of us. I also remember making peach cobbler, cakes and pies. I guess that’s why so many of my memories are of baking. Today, I still love to bake when it’s cold or dreary. Baking raises my spirits and gives me a warm, happy feeling. When my sons were younger they would join me in the kitchen to bake cookies. Hopefully they will have memories of true baking and pass that on to their children (not just slice and bake)!

Sincerely,
Jana Ferguson
