Festive Fruit Leather


Here's a delicious snack and fun holiday activity for your little ones. What could be better than both of those in one package? Fruit leather is fun and easy to make at home. You can use different kinds of fruit to change the color of your leather naturally. Use holiday cookie cutters to make festive shapes. Add dried fruit and nuts to decorate. 
Choose below between Green Apple Fruit Leather and Berry Fruit Leather. The best part about making this fruit leather is that you know exactly what ingredients go into making the recipe. No boxed or wrapped snacks with ingredients you can't pronounce. Experiment with different fruits and different shapes to make this the ultimate holiday treat.

Green Apple Fruit Leather

Supplies: 

  • 6 apples, peeled and diced
  • 3 tablespoons Imperial Sugar Extra Fine Granulated Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup fresh spinach leaves


Directions: 

  1. Add apples, sugar, water, and cinnamon to a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the apples are tender, about 20 minutes. Let cool and transfer to a blender.
  2. Blend until smooth. Add spinach and blend again until completely smooth.
  3. Preheat oven to 200°F. Pour onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicon mat. Spread evenly.
  4. Bang the baking sheet a few times against the counter to release air bubbles.
  5. Bake for 3 to 5 hours, or until the fruit leather is dry. Cool completely.
  6. Use cookie cutters to make fun shapes. Top with dried fruits and nuts for more decoration. 
     

Berry Fruit Leather

Supplies: 

  • 1 (10 ounce) bag frozen mixed berries, thawed
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 3 tablespoons Imperial Sugar Extra Fine Granulated Sugar


Directions: 

  1. Puree all ingredients in a blender until smooth.
  2. Preheat oven to 200°F. Pour onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicon mat. Spread evenly.
  3. Bang the baking sheet a few times against the counter to release air bubbles.
  4. Bake for 3 to 5 hours, or until the fruit leather is dry. Cool completely.
  5. Use cookie cutters to make fun shapes. Top with dried fruits and nuts for more decoration.
