Warm and savory Italian marinara sauce simmered in a slow cooker until it reaches the peak of perfection.  Serve over pasta or in bowl to dip with hunks of crusty garlic bread.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/4 olive oil
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 7 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 carrots grated
  • 1 tablespoon celery seed
  • 2 tablespoons dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dried sage
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1/8 teaspoon fresh grated nutmeg
  • Pinch ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon Imperial Sugar Light Brown Sugar
  • 1 small can tomato paste
  • 28 ounce can crushed tomatoes
  • 28 ounce can peeled marzano tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 3 dashes Worchestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 cup red wine

DIRECTIONS

  1. Combine all ingredients in crockpot and cook for 8 hours, mashing with a potato masher every hour or so.
