INGREDIENTS

  • 1 lb 4 oz - 1 lb 8 oz ground turkey meat
  • 3 red or green bell peppers
  • 2 medium yellow onions
  • 3 large tomatoes
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 1 bottle beer or a glass white wine or a cup chicken broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 6 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon paprika powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chipotle pepper
  • 1 tablespoon oregano
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons Imperial Sugar Dark Brown Sugar
  • 1-2 cans black beans

DIRECTIONS

  1. Heat oil in skillet and add turkey meat. Stir until evenly browned. Drain and remove fat.
  2. Brush oil in slow cooker and place meat inside. Cut bell peppers in even pieces and add. Dice onions, tomatoes and garlic and add to slow cooker. Pour in beer and all spices and sugar. (Wait to add beans.)
  3. Turn on slow cooker and set on low. After about 6 hours add beans and turn to high for approximately an hour.
  4. Ladle into bowls and serve.
