While my family and I absolutely loved this cake I definitely wouldn't call it a chocolate "root beer" cake. I followed the recipe exactly and even ordered the exact root beer extract mentioned in the recipe from Amazon. We were all super excited to taste it and while it was beautiful and delicious and super moist there wasn't even a faint taste of root beer. Possibly next time I may add an extra tbsp of the root beer extract. It's probably the best chocolate pound cake I've ever made but just disappointed that there was zero root beer flavor.
