Chocolate Simple Syrup

Italian Chocolate Cream Soda

  • 2 cups club soda
  • 1/2 cup half and half
  • 1/2 cup chocolate simple syrup
  • Ice
  • Whipped cream, optional


  1. For Chocolate Simple Syrup, place cocoa powder, sugar, water, and vanilla extract in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Stir to combine ingredients and let it heat until it just starts to bubble and sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes.
  3. Remove saucepan from heat. Let mixture cool and then store in refrigerator until it chills.
  4. For soda, fill 4 glasses with ice. Pour 3 tablespoons of chocolate simple syrup into each glass.
  5. Pour 3 tablespoons of half and half in each glass and then top with club soda.
  6. Give drink a gentle stir. Optional, top with whipped cream and serve.
