  2. In a pitcher, combine all ingredients except sparking water and stir.
  3. Refrigerate for 4-8 hours until sangria is chilled and the flavors have melded.
  4. If you like your virgin sangria fizzy, just before serving, add sparkling water and gently stir.
  5. Serve chilled in ice-filled wine glasses with sliced fruit as a garnish.

NOTES:

  1. Non-alcoholic wine selection can be limited. Fruity red wines such as merlot, tempranillo, malbec, pinot noir, and zinfandel, are all good choices for sangria if you can find the de-alcoholized versions. As long as you like the taste of the wine on its own, it will work well for virgin sangria.
  2. We created this recipe using orange spice-flavored black tea. It will also work with regular black tea, but you'll lose a little of the spiciness that red wine is known for. Tazo, The Republic of Tea, Bigelow, and the Stash tea brands all make an orange spice version.

I've tried both versions and the orange spiced tea one is very similar to the real thing! So many other virgin sangria recipes just taste like grape juice. They don't have the "bite" that comes with a true sangria. This is about as close as you can get.
