Homemade Bubble Gum

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup gum base
  • 1/2 - 3/4 cup Imperial Sugar Confectioners Powdered Sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon glycerin
  • 1/4 teaspoon citric acid
  • 6 drops of strawberry flavoring
  • 3 drops of red food coloring
  • Parchment paper cut into 3-inch squares

      Directions

      1. Put gum base, citric acid, corn syrup and glycerin a bowl and microwave for 45 seconds.
      2. Stir mixture and put back in for 5-10 seconds intervals until completely melted.
      3. Add strawberry flavor and red food coloring and stir.
      4. Set aside two tablespoons of powered sugar to sprinkle over finished gum.
      5. Sprinkle 1/4 cup powdered sugar on parchment paper.
      6. Drop gum mixture on top of sugar and knead together. Continue kneading gum, mixing in remaining powdered sugar until gum is smooth and rollable; approximately 10 - 15 minutes.
      7. Roll gum into a snake snape and cut into bite size pieces (about 1/2 inch). Kitchen scissors work best.
      8. Sprinkle each piece with powdered sugar and place in the middle of a parchment paper square; twisting each side to hold gum in place.

      Sounds like fun and I would love to make this with my daughters but having a very hard time finding gum base that is not included in some sort of kit. Any ideas?

      1. Coloque la base para chicle, acido cítrico, jarabe de maíz y glicerina en un embase y coloque en el microondas por 45 segundos.
      2. Mezcle la mezcla y coloque de regreso en intervalos de 5 a 10 segundos hasta que esté completamente derretido.
      3. Agregue el aroma de fresa y el colorante rojo de comida y revuelva.
      4. Coloque a un lado 2 cucharadas de azúcar en polvo para espolvorear sobre el chicle terminado.
      5. Espolvoree 1/4 de taza azúcar en polvo sobre el papel parafinado.
      6. Deje caer mezcla de chicle sobre el azúcar y amase. Continúe amasando el chicle, agregando y mezclando el resto del azúcar en polvo hasta que el chicle este suave y moldeable; aproximadamente 10 a 15 minutos.
      7. Enrolle el chicle en forma de culebra y corte en pedacitos del tamaño de un mordisco (alrededor de 1/2 pulgada. Tijeras de cocina funcionan de lo mejor.
      8. Espolvoree cada pedazo con azúcar en polvo y coloque en el medio del cuadrado de papel parafinado, retorciendo cada lado para que el chicle se mantenga en posición.
